We use Our Sunday Visitor - Alive In Christ text books.  Each child receives his or her own book.

Sixth grade students should demonstrate at the end of  this grade level   the following understandings:

  • The Scriptures are the inspired Word of God.

  • Written Scripture is developed from an oral tradition of the lived experience of God's presence.

  • How to use the Bible.

  • The Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures) tells the story of the relationship between God and the people of Israel.

  • The Scriptures contain stories of how God reveals Himself through the lives of men and women.

  • Scripture helps us to understand who God created us to be and how we are to live.

  • Recall the place of oral tradition in the formation of the Bible.

  • Through the unfolding of the Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures) we come to know Jesus as one pre-figured and foretold; the fulfillment of the Old Testament, and we understand him as a member of the Jewish community.

  • Review the Ten Commandments and seven sacraments, the rosary, the Stations of the Cross.

  • Review Prayers: The Lord's Prayer, The Hail Mary, The Sign Of The Cross, The Apostles Creed, The Glory Be, and the Act of Contrition
